Project Launch is a college and career transitioning program in our high school. The program has a group called Pathfinders, where they explore interests, aspirations, and much, much more. Students are navigated through the career and college aspects, along with getting continued support through the program after they graduate from Deer Isle-Stoington High School. Every high school senior upon graduation has access to this program as a resource to help with whatever transitioning program they plan to have.
Healthy Island Project has partnered with the high school for many years but in recent years specialized in helping families with food sustainability. Healthy Island Project provides various items for our school food pantry and facilitates free produce monthly at the school from the Great Shepherd Food Bank. They have been an invaluable resource for our students, families, and staff.
Opiate-Free Island Partnership has been a constant partner with our high school for years now. Deer Isle Adult and Community Education helps with facilitating shop classes through the high school. We have also partnered with the program on meeting students where they are and seeing how we can best accommodate their needs. Adult Education has been an invaluable resource.
Island Heritage Trust partners with multiple areas within the school. Specifically, they have helped facilitate field trips and off-campus learning for our students in our science classes. The opportunities for outdoor education with this organization has been endless and extremely beneficial.
Haystack has various opportunities that our students have been invited to. Students get to participate in conferences, studio-based learning, and field trips to the FabLab. The FabLab has given so many students opportunities to learn through internships, field trips, and paid work opportunties in the summer.
