The Web is constantly changing... making it hard to ever feel like a person could keep up. This area of our website will provide information about existing and emerging Internet tools and resources - in the context of evovling our school environments and adapting our practices as professional educators, to prepare our students for a future we cannot define today. "Tools" is a good keyword for helping to understand web2.0. You can't easily define web2.0, but you should trust that it means people today have access to a dynamic selection of online-tools... tools that could be used to transform/enhance teaching and learning. It starts with thinking differently about how we create and build, organize and synthesize, and share information. We (teachers/parents) have used the Web, mostly, to transmit or receive information. Our students/children have learned to use the Web in a much different way; for communication, collaboration, feedback, contribution, membership, dialog, meeting, community building... All learning is woven together in a web of social contexts and the web for our children is much different... more dynamic, further reaching, and rapidly changing. Learning has also become highly personal... because the tools that have emerged to represent web2.0 help personalize the use of information.

It is difficult to impress the importance of applying emerging technologies to effectively adapt and modernize our educational environments, but we must accept that the evolution of technology and the Web will have significant impacts on the opportunities and capacity of our students. As educators it is vital that we help students aquire those skills that will continue to lead toward success, happiness, and positive contributions as citizens. What's next... the answer to that question starts with you.

“Education is the only business still debating the usefulness of technology. Schools remain unchanged for the most part, despite numerous reforms efforts and increased investments in computers and networks." ~ Rod Paige, US Secretary of Education
