Helping students explore a variety of post-secondary options is an important goal for DISHS.  Each September, students participate in three days of “Off-Campus Learning” that includes college trips, Studio-Based Learning at Haystack, community building at Camp Beech Cliff, and project-based learning at Hurricane Island.  The following trips will be occurring over the next four days:

Sunday, 9/18:

- Pathways 101 class travels to Hurricane Island.  9:45am departure from Hagan Dock in Stonington.  NOTE: we are watching the forecast carefully and will make a decision this afternoon as to whether or not to cancel the trip.

Monday, 9/19:

- Students participating in Studio-Based Learning at Haystack depart DISHS at 7:00am

- Students who have already registered for Bowdoin’s Maine Day depart DISHS at 7:30am and return at 5:30pm.

- All 9th grade students will depart for Eastern Maine Community College at 8:00am and return at 2:30pm.

- All 10th-12th grade students will depart for Camp Beech Cliff at 8:00am and return to DISHS at 4:30pm.

- Pathways 101 students return to Hagan Dock at 3:30pm; a bus will be available to bring students back to the high school.

Tuesday 9/20:

- All 9th grade students will depart for Camp Beech Cliff at 8:00am and return to DISHS at 4:30pm.

- Trip to COA and Hinkley Yachts departs at 8:00am and returns to DISHS at 4:30pm.  The trip is for all 10th grade students and some 11th & 12th grade students.

- Trip to Washington County Community College departs at 8:00am and returns to DISHS at 7:00pm.  The trip is for some 11th & 12th grade students.

- Trip to Job Corps & Husson departs at 8:00am and returns to DISHS at 4:30pm.  The trip is for some 11th & 12th grade students.

Wednesday 9/21:

- All 9th grade students will depart for Maine Maritime Academy at 8:00am and return at 2:30pm.

- Trip to Cianbro departs at 8:00am and returns to DISHS at 5:00pm.  The trip is for some 10th-12th grade students.

- Trip to UMaine Orono departs at 8:00am and returns to DISHS at 2:30pm.  The trip is for some 10th-12th grade students.

- Trip to The Landing School departs at 8:00am and returns to DISHS at 8:00pm.  The trip is for some 10th-12th grade students.

Permission slips for all trips went out last week- please return them to school Monday morning if you have not already.  Additionally, Camp Beech Cliff requires and additional medical release.
