CSD#13 and Union#76 Meetings Coming Up This Week

posted Dec 3, 2011, 7:10 AM by toddwest@dishs.org
The regular monthly Deer Isle-Stonington School Committee meeting is Tuesday, December 6 at 6:00 p.m. at the high school. A new policy on class size and a policy on volunteers that requires a background check are both part of the discussion agenda.

The annual School Union 76 (the combined boards from Brooklin, Sedgwick and DI-S) Committee meeting will be at the Brooklin School on Wednesday, December 7 at 6:00 p.m. Approval of the 2012-13 central office budget, formation of a study committee on the future of the school union and discussion of planning for a superintendent search are some of the agenda highlights.

From the "save the date" department, the second week of January 2012 will be a busy few days.

The Strategic Planning Team (SPT), which has held two sessions, is planning a community forum on Monday, January 9 to begin gathering input from the parents/community on direction for the school district over the next five years. This input will provide part of the raw material for the next district strategic plan for 2012-2017.  I'll forward to you the specifics about time and location after those details are firmed up at the next SPT meeting on December 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at DISES.

The DI-S School Committee will hold its second budget forum on Wednesday, January 11 at 6:00 p.m. at the high school. I'll get an agenda for that meeting out to you right after the school committee meeting on January 3rd.

Have a great weekend.

Superintendent Bob Webster
