Charting Our Mariner Past And Seeking Solutions

Welcome to the Deer Isle-Stonington High School CREST website. It all started with the CREST project... Community for Rural Education Stewardship and Technology. The National Science Foundation gave a three year $1.2 million dollar grant to the Island Institute. Deer Isle Stonington is one of 11 schools that were given technology training and equipment! With this grant, we decided to start a CREST class. Our CREST class is made up of three focus groups: Ethnography, GIS, and Web. Together these three focus groups research the history of Deer Isle-Stonington. Currently we are working on the following projects: America's Cup Project, the Hatchery Project, the Deer Isle/Stonington Granite Quarry Project. This website, done by the web group, is one of the ways that we as a class share the information we find while researching this history. Please use any information that is helpful to you and feel free to contact us with any questions. We welcome any information that you may have on any of our research topics. Thank you for visiting our site.
