Computer Graphics and Design is a hands-on project-oriented course designed for students who have interest in both computers and art. The course is made up of student driven projects and students are encourages to use their own creativity and imagination. This class is designed for students to gain marketable skills and explore careers in computer graphics and graphic design as well as allow students to expand on something they enjoy doing. This is a great place for students with artistic talent to express themselves using electronic media. Projects for this course would be excellent for an electronic portfolio. Students work primarily with Adobe Photoshop but Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Flash, Publisher, Fireworks, and other software programs may be used as deemed necessary depending on project topics. Examples of some fun projects are: magazine covers, CD covers, Photo restoration, point of sales displays, Promotional items, retail package designs, Logos and advertising for products and services as well as lots of independent art projects learning to use graphics programs. Students are encouraged to create many of their own projects. Students may take this course for Senior Exhibition credit in lieu of Senior Ehibition Seminar with prior permission from the instructor.
