Desktop publishing is a hands-on, project oriented course which uses Microsoft Word and Microsoft Publisher to create publicaton on a computer. The course is made up of student driven projects--students use their own creativity and imagination to create the final products. Students gain real life skills by working on authentic publishing needs. Examples of projects are: doorknob hangers, bookmarks, labels, public service announcements, event programs, restaurant menus, publications, etc. Depending on the projects, students may gain experience using other programs such as Dreamweaver, Flash, Photoshop, etc. Successful completion of this course will provide students with employabilty skills and valuable skills for use in post-secondary pursuits and they can have fun at the same time. Students may take this course for Senior Exhibition credit in lieu of Senior Exhibition Seminar with prior premission from the instructor.
Presently students are working on a portfolio assessement--an informational brochure.
